MUSIC CONCERT PHOTOS

In 1998 I started (me, Moni) to take pictures of HARDCORE / PUNK bands, I grew up in that world and they saved me from many things … so that was my beginnings, being in a concert where the distance between the band and the audience practically does not exist, we are all one, we all sing the songs and end up without air from singing and shouting … it is a catharsis, so I discovered that I liked the contact with people, feeling part of the mass of energy, and release all the anger I had for the things that happened that were not indifferent to me.

Some time later I started collaborating for a communications agency, I was working as a freelance and had to go to cover the events, many of them were music concerts, so I was very happy with that.

MORRISSEY

When you shot concerts they give you 3 or 4 songs to be able to take photos from the pit, which is usually under the stage, but in the MORRISSEY concert the pit was about 6 meters from the stage, behind the VIP court, so I without a tele lens to be able to take photos… It was insane, luckily I could save the situation because a colleague borrow me his. TIP: ALWAYS HAVE A GOOD VIBES WITH COLLEAGUES.

Because of the agency, I have the pleasure to photograph MALA RODRÍGUEZ and BOMBA ESTÉREO, two big women on stage, so it is not difficult to get a portrait of them with a lot of attitude.

JUSTICE

Always at concerts I try to get different perspectives, I start in the pit taking pictures as close as I can or if I am working for the band I take pictures from the stage and then I go down and take an overview of the concert and then I go into the field to get what people see and to also enjoy.

The concert was in Badalona, WE WERE MAXIMUM 20 PEOPLE BUT THEY PERFORMED LIKE WE WERE A FULL STADIUM, every time they left the stage and people asked for the BIS, they were not behind in backstage, because there were no backstage, they were on the side of the stage and that’s when I took this photo.

ONE OF BEST THINGS OF LIFE IS TO TAKE PHOTOS OF YOUR BEST FRIENDS PLAYING MUSIC. I HAVE LIVED ALL LIFE DOCUMENTING THE THOUSAND GIGS AND BANDS THAT THEY HAVE HAD, THEY PLAY AND I TAKE PHOTOS. THAT`S OUR LIFE.

A LITTLE BIT OF ANALOG

ONE OF MY FAVORITES BANDS OF ALL TIMES IS DINOSAUR JR AND THEIR SINGER J MASCIS, HERE PLAYING ALONE IN A LITTLE GIG IN CHILE.
