A new movement is lately in the air, in the medias: the anti-bride bride. This means a less traditional bride, who does not seek to disguise as a bride but be her own version. Not to pretend but to be a real bride. They look for less conventional things, different dresses, other types of shoes, unusual accessories, etc. They are also not interested in complying with traditions based on the usual macho models or that a bride, in the end, is a precious object that is only worth its beauty. The world is changing and we have a role here.
Did you followed us in Instagram?. If you want to know how to choose a wedding photographer, please read this post. After 10 years doing this job we have some valuable information. We hope we can help you to choose wisely a photographer!!.
It is noticeable that although you can read articles about this, the big brands in the wedding industry, wedding blogs, continue to offer the same thing in the end but depicted in a somewhat curious childish way. At the end you have photos of brides pretending they are wild for doing the sign of the horns, wearing a leather jacket or having tattoos.
This kind of parody is undoubtedly a start to break the solid traditional image of what a bride should be, but the content of real brides (not just styled shootings with models) with a true anti-bride feminist attitude and not just playing the badass girl for the photo is missing. At the end they still saying the same “you should look super skinny that day!!”, no matter if you have tattoos or ride a Harley-davidson.
What we want to say is that let’s do not fall into the cliché again. If we now play we are a wild bride, we re-impose something that is not there in essence. It’s great that there are brides who want to be very classic. The important thing is that each bride listen to her soul and that she does not have to pretend something that she is not. The important thing is to be honest with yourself. Stay true to yourself and don’t listen what the society tells you to do. We both sides of the wedding industry have the responsibility to support the change. Brides, grooms and nearlyweds with your choices and us, the storytellers, in the way we tell the story.
Before creating The Richters, we already had a brand called The wildbrides totally focused on this type of bride: strong women, with character, who are not afraid to show their true personality (because they have it). Fortunately, and thanks to the growing empowerment of women, we can see how the wedding industry is changing. Weddings are becoming more and more original, true, fun and exciting. Check some real stories here.
Our commitment is precisely that, to document the weddings of the anti-bride, but also the wedding of every women, men and other sexual identities that support the change, with more personality and freer minds. We are proud to show them off, not pretending to be different bur really embodying it.
